Activate Live Provisioning Server

The Activate Live Provisioning Server provides the base functionality for all other Activate Products. The system provides common services like configuration management, job and workflow management as well as common auditing and security features.

Customers can then purchase as few or as many business modules as required for their organization.

A common platform means that all Activate products have the same look and feel and common functionality. This makes it easier for Business Users to understand so that they can start using additional products quickly and easily.

The Activate Live Provisioning Server consists of 2 major components, the Activate Intranet Portal and the Activate Live Provisioning Engine.

Activate Intranet Portal

The Activate Intranet Portal is the base platform for delivering the system to the business and provides a centralized point for the submission and execution of Activate Tasks.

Activate Live Provisioning Engine

The Activate Live Provisioning Engine is responsible for workflow, execution and management of provisioning tasks.

Activate MetaStore The Activate Metastore system is a single configuration point for all Activate information.	Job Management The job management system allows users to manage current jobs within the system.
Activate Workflow Server The workflow server provides a comphrensive workflow runtime environment.	Audit and Security Management The audit and security subsystem tracks and controls access to the organization's resources.

Activate Database

The Activate data can be a stand-alone or run on a shared environment. The Activate database contains the following information

• Activate Object Metadata and security information
• Task scripts and data definitions
• Logs for all jobs
• Audit logs for each user
• User Cache for reporting

• SQL Server 2000 or 2005

Physical Configuration

Activate can be installed on one of the following physical configurations:

• Single Server
  All components are installed on a single machine. This configuration is normally more suitable for smaller organizations.
  
• Front and Back Server
  The Activate Web Interface is installed on a dedicated machine and the Activate Server and SQL Server database are installed on a separate machine. This configuration improves security and performance by separating user facing components from back end server components.
  
• Front, Middle and Data Server
  In this configuration all components are installed on separate machines.
