The Activate Software Manager for Microsoft Systems Centre Configuration Manager (SCCM) module allows the management of software installations to be delegated to users and application owners.

Activate manages the Software for the entire Service lifecycle from provisioning the software, through to updates and finally de-installing the Software.

	Shopping Cart style interface Activate Services Manager uses a familiar shopping cart style interface for users to find and request the services they need. This means that users familiar with internet shopping sites can easily use the system with little or no training.
	Microsoft Systems Centre Configuration Manager™ Integration Activate SoftwareManager includes prebuilt connectors to Microsoft Systems Centre Configuration Manager enabling software deployment and desktop management to be easily and instantly incorporated into your service environment.
	Procurement Integration Using Activate’s advanced integration capabilities, integration of existing Procurement processes or systems is quick and easy. For example, systems like BMC Remedy™ can easily be connected to complete the procurement processes.
	Asset/License Management Software licenses can be created and managed independantly of the users who are using them. Licenses can be statically allocated to cost centres or automatically be changed depending upon the current user of the license.
	Software License Expiry Software, like all Activate Services, can be requested for a period of time or while a user is in a particular role. This allows ad-hoc requests to be linked to role based access while allowing flexibility within the business.
	Security and Compliance Automated processes for the provisioning of Services mean that corporate approvals and processes are always performed.
	Improved Auditing and Reporting Enhance security and audit by providing end to end audit trails from request to approval to implementation across all of all managed systems.

Implementation Process

Activate Software Manager is designed to be easy to install and implement. The following is a simple overview of the steps required to install Activate Software Manager.

Install Activate Server
Define available services - optionally extract and import from SMS/SCCM packages
Define approval requirements - ie Manager, Financial Levels etc

Typical Installation time does vary depending upon the size and complexity of the customers environment. Installation onto an installed Windows 2003/2008 server with all prequites takes about 2-3 hrs.
